It was the Merina (19th century dynasty that united all of Madagascar for the first time) stronghold and is protected by an enormous stone disc which requires 40 men to roll into place. You can also visit the citadel in the city where the Merina’s ceremonies were held. This city is the birthplace of the Malagasy state.
